Painting Archive
The majority of the work in this archive was painted plein air, on location. Starting in Bloomington, Indiana near the end of my graduate study with small, one shot paintings done with a palette knife. These sessions continued as I moved to Iowa and I began to expand the size of the work and the duration of the sittings. I became enamored with working en plein air and I dedicated myself to it for about 5 years. I painted small studies around Philadelphia when I taught a pastel landscape class there and continued when I moved to Illinois before I changed my focus to my current series of work. The paintings in my recent work section are really descendants of these plein air paintings and grew out of my love for landscape painting, studying space, light, and color.
